We are a Home Based bride boutique located in Martensville, Saskatchewan. We are just ten minutes out of Saskatoon, well worth the drive! Owner, Glenda Edmunds opened the doors of A La Mode on October 11, 2007 as a retail location. In September of 08 she moved the business back to a home based shop and have been loving every minute. Glenda has been working as a seamstress for nearly 25 years. In 2007, she was inundated with the need to have gowns altered for upcoming weddings and expanded her business to include bridal retail. She was also party to the need for a relaxing gown shopping experience, and the idea was born. We decided to start this store for several reasons: One, we love weddings! And really, who doesn't? There's such an air of promise and new beginnings at a wedding, much like at the opening of this store! The other was noticing the demand for a store that made weddings much, much easier. |
Yes. We are registered with the Saskatchewan government, licensed by the town of Martensville, operate with a current GST number.
Are you a consignment business?
We did start our business including consignment dresses in our inventory. As of spring of '09, A La Mode will no longer be accepting consignment. If you are looking to sell your second hand dress, try listing it on Kijiji.ca
Where do you get your dresses?
We are an authorized retailer for all of the dress lines in our business. Dresses are ordered specific for each customers. The one exception would be the sample sale items, prom or the Juno line.
How can I be sure that you will be in business when the dresses arrive?
You know where I live. In these economic times, this is a valid fear. Our business is simplified because we are a home based business. While the bridal business is challenging to create, we are committed our brides and their trust. We are experiencing healthy growth, expanding every quarter.
